The Farbett who went ahead to make the guards "not see" is already well out of sight and sound. The party moves along down the tunnel in the direction he went.
"Something's not connecting," says Betham. Asked what he means, he adds, "He said the guards were watching the airfield. This tunnel doesn't really go there. I wonder if he meant the supply node at the junction with the main tunnel. It's just a bit further down."
"Supply node?" wonders Pru.
"Underground storeroom," continues Betham. "Emergency supplies in case of a disaster."
Pru chuckles. "Assuming those Farbetts haven't knicked 'em!"
Just as she says this, there is a roar from further up the tunnel followed by a more humanoid-sounding scream and a few sharp, muffled reports.
96 comments:
"Well, that must be the diversion now. Let's just hope it doesn't attract too much attention toward us. Ham, is there anyway you can passively scan, so we aren't detected, to help us understand what might be happening?"
[I like the dedication.]
Mon'Fargret checks his IR specs to see if they allow him to see farther down the tunnel (depending on the curve of it) or better in general in the current light.
Ham gives Zeton a puzzled look. "It's already in passive mode," he says, holding up his scanner. "It won't see spit unless they're using a scanner or putting out a lot of energy."
Mon'Fargret adjusts his night goggles a bit so that they tend more toward infrared rather than UV, and doing so increases his vision to an extent. The tunnel doesn't really curve much, but there's still plenty more than thirty meters to go before the supply node, and he can't see quite that far.
Zeton tries to hide his embarrassment about how Ham's scanner functions. "Sorry Ham, I'm only a journalist, not very savvy when it comes to understanding how that sort of tech works..."
"Shall we proceed with caution?"
"Our diversion might not last long," says Pru, quickening her pace. "If we're gonna do something, we'd better do it now."
"Pru's right, we'd better make the best of it while we can." Zeton quickens his walk to match Pru's, all while reaching for his collapsible baton, just in case he needs it.
Mon'Fargret nods his assent and quickens his pace moving close enough to the front for a fuller view and scanning the distance.
Moving ahead, the advancing members of the group come to the entrance of the supply node. It is a large, pentagonal chamber about forty meters across. Tiled avenues from the entrance and four other portals converge in the center. There are racks and stacked palettes of goods in the areas between the avenues.
There is also a lot of trash, particularly in the party's vicinity. It is clear that a good many of the drums and boxes on that end of the chamber have been pilfered.
The Farbett punk causing the diversion has moved away from the entrance into one of the storage areas and is bellowing and tossing things around.
At the far end, in an area between two exits, there are two humanoid-shaped beings standing. Despite the dim light, Zeton can see (and Mon'Fargret can see very clearly) that they are both much too tall to be either Hergoth or Yangae and are clearly both armed and armored.
One of them is yelling in heavily-accented Yangae in a female voice, "I mean it! Quiet down and get back in your tunnel, or I'll do something worse!"
In a very hushed tone, Zeton asks, "OK, which exit do we need to take? Please tell me it's an exit away from those two guards."
While trying to keep out of sight of the guards, Zeton looks around to get a lay of the land. "I really hope we can use the trash and the stacks of supplies as objects to hide behind as we make our way out of here."
"Not so sure I can sneak by unnoticed." Widjy says "better go quick."
Mon'Fargret will attempt to ascertain where there might be openings and make a mental map. He will also make sure his pistol is ready to go.
He addresses Betham, "Options, Constable?"
"If we want a quick route to where we're going," says Betham, "we have to go through one of the tunnels on the far end. They're armored. This probably won't help unless we're really close." He pats his holster. "Ham's carbine might..."
As he says this, Pru quietly ducks around the corner to the left and skitters away.
Zeton is startled by Pru's quick exit and hesitates momentarily before quickly following her. As he follows he pockets his baton and reaches for his gauss hand gun. It's at that moment he realizes he's not sure which clip of ammo he current has in the magazine well and hopes whichever it is, is enough to get the job done.
Pru and Zeton manage to make it around the corner and behind the cover of the (half-pilfered) shelves.
Then one of the guards says something with a feminine voice in an unfamiliar language and quickly turns in that direction, leveling a laser designator on one of the garbage heaps.
Have been in Philly this week. I will try to post tomorrow when I get home, then off to vaca and limited access. Infogeek can be me while I am out.
(Yay for in-flight WiFi)
M'F will crouch near the closest cover with his pistol drawn. He will wait for Betham before returning fire.
As Mon'Fargret moves toward an overturned (and emptied) food drum a meter or so from the doorway, the guard who was probing around with a designator shouts something.
Betham immediately dives into a prone position behind the scattered trash next to Mon'Fargret, who raises himself to a crouch. Betham then readies his pistol.
The second guard, who was distracted by the Farbett punk, glances toward the doorway.
Bina, Mey'Luskar, Atraktu, and Nekshi move to press themselves against the wall of the tunnel, using its curve for cover. Meanwhile, Ham and Granite Spear begin to move forward.
(What is Widjgleeby going to do?)
Keeping her firearm leveled in the direction of Zeton and Pru but looking toward Mon'Fargret and Betham, the first guard yells in heavily-accented Yangae, "This tunnel is closed!"
(Is Mon'Fargret going to wait or take action?)
(For the record, the circular, gray thing in the middle of the picture is a very shallow cone with a domed top, about a meter in height, and is some kind of machinery that is very much active.)
[Are we able to ascertain what sort of machinery? For example, does it look like a machine used to sort and move the supplies in the node, or is it more like a defense mechanism? Zeton will use his small periscope to try get a view of the machine without exposing himself to the guards if he needs to examine it in detail before understanding what it is.]
M'F will fire at the figure farthest from the dome. I rolled the d20 twice...first was a 9, second was a 14. Pistol set on pulse. If he recognizes the armor type, he will of course aim for weakness.
Zeton sees enough of the machine in the middle of the chamber to guess that it's probably a typical Ergothei survival pod. It can project a radiation-suppressing field (and possibly even an actual defense shield) out to a certain radius and maintain temperature and atmosphere within it. It probably also contains various kinds of emergency gear...not to mention a small fusion powerplant.
It appears to be active, but Zeton is unable to tell whether it is projecting a field or not.
[Since Mon'Fargret hasn't yet taken an aiming action, I'll treat that first shot as a snapshot.]
There's a flash, and a burst of sparks erupts from the larger guard's side.
Pru dashes at a careful pace to the east, ducking behind the diagonal rack in the corner.
Swearing under his breath, Betham snap-shoots a controlled burst with his pistol at the same guard Mon'Fargret fired at. His shot is low, and a pair of stun pulses expend themselves on the overturned drum in front of the guard.
Ham (I assume) weaves around Granite Spear and Widjgleeby and readies his carbine.
The larger guard cuts loose with his firearm, which appears to be a gauss assault rifle with a high rate of fire. He fans his volley wildly. A bullet tears a chunk out of the drum in front of Mon'Fargret. Another hits Granite Spear in the leg and bounces off. Yet another apparently hits Lirassa somewhere, but it's uncertain if it penetrated her armor, while one skims past Nekshi's ear, missing it by a centimeter.
(Granite Spear is up for an action.)
(Oops...I forgot something...)
Yet another bullet blasts its way through a rack and hits Zeton on the hip, tearing his clothing but failing to penetrate his armored girdle.
The Farbett punk lets out a roar.
Granite Spear shakes to clear her head for the first time since going up the stairs back at the house, and wonders where her mind had gone to!! [I just spent the last hour catching up...] Clearly something in that place put her in a daze, something she is not terribly happy about. The glance of a bullet across her leg, however, has definitely put her back into reality, and stirred her into action.
Granite will move quickly with Ham out of the tunnel past Widg for cover behind trash in the area near Zeton and Pru. If she can manage it, she'll draw that gun she recovered outside the house.
Granite, Nekshi has placed you in a stupor state to increase your mobility outside of water. It's pretty much an energy saver for water-dependent species. You follow general orders but only "wakeup" when certain established criteria are met, such as being shot at.
Nekshi will try to figure out how to quickly jam the enemy's communications. That may interrupt our own messages for a time, but so be it.
With her secondary mental functions, she'll try to discern how dangerous that fusion reactor on the survival pod is, i.e will it catastrophically combust if hit.
While the bullets are still flying from the guard's gun, Widjgleeby does an impressive, 4-limb leap over Betham into cover. That helps to ease the bottleneck at the tunnel entrance a bit,
A bit. Granite Spear started running first, but Ham, who can move faster, winds up getting there at about the same time. That leaves Granite Spear, Ham, and Lirassa practically abreast blocking the tunnel.
Pru continues to run at a near sprint in a clockwise path around the edge of the room.
The bullet that glanced off Granite Spear's leg was enough to set off her battle instincts. Responding to the adrenaline rush, she quickly draws her pistol. She (i.e. GS) can now take another action.
Zeton is going to draw his gauss pistol and follow Pru using as much cover as he can while trying to catch up to her. Zeton will hold up at the path that leads out to the NE, (I'm assuming "top" of the picture is north) and take cover behind the shelving unit there.
Zeton hopes Pru holds up there as well so they can coordinate their actions, but if Pru continues to run full bore across the bath, Zeton will crouch down and reveal just enough of himself to lay down covering fire.
Granite will stop to take a shot at the larger guard that is shooting at us, assuming there's a reasonable line of sight. Rolling a D20 on the web-based die rolling utility.... a 4! (for once that thing gave me a good number)
Once again there is a *crack* like a nearby lightning strike, and a short-lived trail of plasma appears between Granite Spear's pistol and the guard. There is a flare of light and a burst of fire and sparks from the latter's chest.
Acting on pure reflex, the other guard dives behind the survival pod just as the baffled matter burst erupts from her partner's chest. As she flies, a brief pulse of fire flares from a device on the top of her helmet, apparently targeted at Mon'Fargret. In any case, her sudden jump throws it off target, and it narrowly misses him...
[Dewkid: Is Granite Spear going to attempt to dodge the shot, negating her next action, or will you expend 20 fortune points to make it a guaranteed miss?]
At the same time, Mon'Fargret takes his second shot (already rolled for). It hits, but not very well, and it's doubtful it penetrated.
With a roar, the Farbett punk turns to run.
[How many fortune points do I have? In any case, Granite will attempt to dodge the shot. Looking at the player's guide, this appears to be a CBT roll? Granite doesn't have any dodge modifiers, and her CBT is 12, so here goes my die roll... rolled a 10. Hope that's good enough...]
[I'm not telling how many you have! }:-Þ] (Dodging shots works a little differently, but no problem.)
[HAN SHOT FIRST!!!!!]
Granite instinctively jerks to the side, and the pulse kicks out a small baffled matter blast on the corridor wall.
Betham shoots off another brief burst with his pistol, scoring a solid hit on the leg of the guard with the assault rifle. Both pulses can be seen to scatter and dissipate harmlessly.
At the same time, Lirassa howls and snap-shoots with her monster of a rifle. There are two quick cracks and streaks of plasma very much like those produced by Granite Spear's pistol, only much bigger. A nasty-looking fireball erupts from inside the armor of the guard's right arm followed by another one in his chest area.
Pru slows her run to come up behind the rack just north of the northeast exit. Zeton moves to come alongside her.
Ham, a bit worried about the repeater firearms going off on either side of him, crouches down next to Mon'Fargret.
Widjgleeby secures herself into cover.
The Farbett punk continues to run toward the exit.
The female guard hits the floor behind the survival pod.
The male guard's assault rifle drops toward the floor. The guard himself crumples, smoke and flame billowing from gaps in his arm, chest, and side.
(Mon'Fargret and Granite Spear each have a speed point left for this exchange. Is either going to do anything?)
[Love the update to the map - vaporized guard!]
After that dodge [sorry - I didn't know fortune points were GM-knowledge-only], Granite merely wants to get some cover. From the map it looks like she can duck down in place, and get some amount of cover, so that's what she'll do.
Nekshi is fascinated by the well described combat scenes and waits to talk into her comm.
Mon'Fargret will aim for the other guard. Let me know if he has enough for a shot.
Mon'Fargret can switch his aim, but the other guard has dropped behind the survival pod. He can no longer draw a bead.
(He's pretty good at drawing other things, though.)
What is Nekshi going to say into her comm?
(Engaging Gamemaster Override..)
Nekshi begins, "Nekshi to party...shooting the survival pod..."
Granite Spear and Zeton can each take an action now.
(Granite Spear, with her extremely sensitive vibration sense, can tell that the guard behind the survival pod is in the process of jumping up.)
(Zeton can see the guard behind the pod clearly. She is starting to jump toward him and Pru, raising her firearm as she does so. It's hard to say what direction that turret on the top or her helmet is pointing, though.)
Zeton knows the end of Nekshi's sentence without having to hear it, "...is not conducive to a positive outcome...", or something to that effect. Great. Zeton decides he's better shot very carefully.
[If Zeton can take careful aim, trying to take into account any movement by the guard, then he'll do so. If Zeton is unable to take careful aim, I guess it's a snapshot, right? At any rate, I rolled a .... 17, Ouch.]
[Zeton has time to take aim before the guard moves, so I'll treat that as an aimed shot, assuming he's right behind Pru. Basically, with a roll like that, it means Zeton wasn't able to put the designator on the target, so he never pulled the trigger.]
[Zeton can take a second action now, e.g. try to correct his aim and shoot. Note, however, that the guard is now in the process of jumping forward and raising her gun, meaning she may squeeze off a shot at the same time.]
Anticipating the jump, Granite will take an aimed shot with her "lightning" pistol once the guard clears the survival pod. Rolling a real d20 this time... an 8!
Zeton will try to correct his aim and shot. The roll is 14.
[Better than before, but not that great either. I hope Zeton's insurance is paid up.]
Zeton's shot is a near miss. At the same time, the guard, in the same fluid motion as her jump, lets out a shriek and cranks off an unaimed snap-shot just as Pru starts to scamper up the rack.
There is a sharp, concussive report (i.e. a combustion slug thrower) followed by a chaotic ringing as flesh-tearing buckshot scatters. One hits Zeton in the stomach and bounces off, though he feels the impact. Another catches Pru in the hip, but she continues up the rack.
As she flies upward, the guard cranks off a second wild shot in quick succession (Pru escapes it, Zeton takes another shot in the chest, which bounces off but knocks him off balance) while turning her head to bring her helmet turret to bear on the party at the tunnel entrance. At that moment, Granite Spear squeezes off a shot aimed at the point where her ultra-acute tactile sense feels the target will be.
Flames erupt across the guard's torso just above the kidney and immediately spread to cover her back.
Is Granite Spear going to shoot again?
Granite will definitely squeeze off another shot, assuming she's following the guard to the ground. Rolled a 17 this time...
It's a clean miss over the guard's back.
While this is going on, Betham launches into a sprint apparently heading toward the other side of the survival pod.
Mon'Fargret can take an action now.
Mon'Fargret quickly holsters his pistol and reaches into his rucksack for another weapon (Moody knows which one and which round he will be using). When he is able to aim and fire, let me know.
Nekshi listens to the EM feedback over her comm from high energy weapon discharges and a quick, two note bass concussive explosion from the room itself, and rolls her eyes.
She'll start to move into the room as soon as she's able, Kevin.
At any rate, Nekshi gets as far as, "...will likely cause a low yield plasma discharge..." before she gives up.
Granite Spear can take another action now (e.g. a shot) before I start moving the figures on the board some more.
Yes, Granite will take another shot at the downed guard... crap, another 17. Too many people moving around at once for the vibrations to do any good anymore, I guess. :-)
Another clean miss. Okay...stand by while I take care of already predetermined movement and update the map...
Okay...
Betham continues running toward the survival pod, measuring his pace to maneuver through the trash.
The Farbett punk runs out through the northwest exit, essentially leaving the scene.
Pru makes it to the top of the rack.
Despite her flaming back, the guard continues her forward motion, breaking into a run toward the northeast exit.
Granite Spear can take one opportunity shot at the guard now before she moves out of the field of fire. Either that, or Granite Spear can take a movement option instead (or move and shoot).
Zeton, who is just regaining his footing after taking those medium-range shotgun hits, can also take an action now.
(I'm assuming that Mon'Fargret hunkered down behind cover before he started rummaging in his gear.)
Zeton will attempt one last time to shoot the guard before dumping the hand gun and attempting to tackle the individual. This time the roll is... a 7! [Now with my luck I'll have the wrong ammo in the weapon.]
Yes, one more shot. Granite is determined to turn this bitch into smoking humanoid meat. Rolled a 14, which is a bit better, but I'm guessing not good enough.
Granite's shot appears to be a near miss.
Zeton's shot catches the guard in the leg just above the knee. [Rolls randomly to see what kind of ammo is in the gun] The armor can be seen to deform and crack, but it's not certain whether it was penetrated.
At that moment, the guard attempts to shoot back at the other party members with her helmet turret before losing her line of sight. She appears to stumble, and most of the beam she cranks off goes wild. However, both Ham and Granite Spear are caught in the spread. (Neither has enough fortune points to make it miss.)
The exoskeleton on Granite Spear's hip is burned but not penetrated.
Ham's helmet is penetrated, but only just. The burst of fire still looks painful.
The guard also squeezes off yet another shotgun blast, but the shot scatters harmlessly over Zeton's head.
"Twenty-seven, bann emergency!" shouts Betham as he runs around the survival pod.
From atop the rack, Pru throws one of her quoits at the guard. The silvery disk embeds in the floor in front of the guard's feet.
Granite Spear can take an action now, if desired. The target is now blocked by the rack of boxes on the left side of GS's field of vision.
Granite will begin an approach towards the rack of boxes, trying to conceal her movement from the guard by keeping the rack between them. Of course, her pistol stays out...
With a properly-measured huff, Nekshi lowers her wrister and starts heading toward the chamber.
"Where are YOU going?" demands Mey'Luskar.
The guard, her stride already an almost-comical struggle to stay on her feet, trips over Pru's quoit and falls headlong in a chaotic mess of smoke and gear.
Betham comes around the far side of the survival pod, bringing the guard into his field of fire. As he does so, purple lights start to flash on the survival pod, and it starts to hum (with a bit of a rattle).
As Granite Spear starts to crowd through the bottleneck at the tunnel entrance, Ham scurries toward cover behind the nearby rack, his helmet still burning a little.
(Is Widjgleeby going to do anything besides just stay behind cover?)
[Dewkid, let me know if Granite Spear is going to change her course of action. For now, I'm going to assume she's just going to keep heading toward that rack with her pistol at the ready.]
[Zeton can take an action now.]
Nekshi will huff out "To the pod!" to Mey as she runs by.
Zeton will check his ammo clip to see what ammo he is using. If it is not APTF, he will perform a tactical reload to put APTF in the gauss pistol. Then, he'll train his weapon on the fallen guard making sure to keep a close eye on the helmet turret.
Zeton's pistol currently has the APFT clip in it.
Atraktu moves like she's going to follow Nekshi.
Ham beats out the flame on his helmet. Lirassa starts moving to help him.
Betham cuts loose full auto with his stun pistol. His aim is hasty, and the shot is wild (the bursts hitting the floor a couple of meters ahead and to the left of the target), but he starts walking it in.
The guard, meanwhile, starts to roll out of her fall.
(Okay, I'll assume Granite Spear uses an action to kick that box out of her way.)
(The guard has rolled out of Zeton's field of fire.)
Um, yeah... sure. :-) And yes, I meant to respond that Granite will continue with her current course, even with the pod glowing like a pig farmer holding a big red ribbon at the fair.
[APFT sounds like something Bill the Cat would say...]
Once Granite reaches the rack, she'll try to sense where that Guard has gotten to, and work her way around the rack to try to open a line of sight. Once she see's the guard again (assuming visible from the rack), she'll take an aimed shot. I'll wait to see how much of that can be done before making any die rolls!
Mon'Fargret looks up and realizes his original plan might make for a crispy constable...so he reaches for the rifle instead.
[I miss Bill the Cat]
I'm going to go around the the back of the rack and head towards the center of the room.
Nekshi comes into the room, Atraktu not far behind.
Widjgleeby makes her way around the rack.
Ham comes to a stop at the edge of another rack, Lirassa coming up behind him.
Granite Spear comes to the end of the other side of that rack.
Zeton takes a step or two to the side as he takes aim.
Betham continues to charge forward as he walks his volley into the target. The latter comes out of her roll and prepares to jump up.
Granite Spear can take her shot (noting that Betham is now only a couple of meters from the target).
Granite is going to delay her shot until Betham is clear. She doesn't want to hit him, and her luck with this gun is about 50/50 (not good odds for the life of a friendly). She'll keep her pistol trained on the guard, and wait a pulse/round/turn (whatever the term is) to see what happens with Betham and the guard.
Betham brings his sustained volley onto the guard, scoring several solid hits as she tries to leap up off of the floor. The stun bolts can be seen to spread across her armor and dissipate in a fixed pattern, but she convulses with each hit.
Pru draws another quoit from her bandoleer.
Just then, there is a weird whine from the center of the chamber, and a sort of prismatic, glassy dome comes into existence just inside the textured pentagon on the floor. As it forms, Granite Spear is pushed slightly back from it, and the guard is pulled in.
Meanwhile, fire-suppression systems come online, using meson heat extractors to quench the flames on the far racks.
Totally oblivious to the forcefield, Betham continues to send stun bolts smashing into the guard. The latter is thrown up against the glassy dome as sparks play about her form.
Granite Spear steps back and regains her footing as Widjgleeby comes to a stop in front of the forcefield. Nekshi continues into the room with Atraktu a few paces behind her. Lirassa comes up next to Ham.
All sound within the forcefield dome is totally inaudible to those outside, but Betham's volley can be seen to come to a sudden, abrupt halt.
The guard falls heavily to the floor, sparks still dancing on her stun-suppressing armor.
Muttering something, Betham lifts his weapon and casually pops out the clip. Then he finally seems to notice the dome of force that surrounds him.
"Bina!" snaps Mey'Luskar. "Shut it off!"
Granite mutters something about cowards hiding behind shields, and then scans the room for more hostiles, paying particular attention to the other tunnel openings.
The forcefield fades away, and Betham can be heard saying, "Number twenty-seven, return to idle." Then he moves to check on the fallen guard as the survival pod returns to its original state.
The chamber appears to be secure. There is no other activity other than the fact that Ham and Lirassa seem to be squabbling about something.
"Pru, that was nice use of higher ground. Would you like some help down?"
Pru chortles and starts to climb down very carefully. "Do I look like I need help?"
Smiling broadly at Pru, Zeton replies in a friendly tone, "No, Pru not at all, but I couldn't resist asking."
Zeton's smile fades as he turns and walks towards Betham while gesturing toward the guard Betham stuned, "So, do you think it's safe to approach her to see if she's still alive?"
While Zeton is asking, he begins to fish out his med kit from his gear.
Granite too will leave the apparent safety of her rack and approach Betham, keeping an eye on the downed (non-vaporized) guard. "I think we should kill it before it gets back up."
Betham sighs as he begins removing various weapons from the guard. "She's pretty much dead already," he says. He holds up her automatic shotgun and a very primitive-looking revolver. "Antiques. Must be Sarkon." Then he picks up what looks to be some kind of gauss or rail carbine, but with a large bore. "Definitely Sarkon. Nasty!"
Mey'Luskar and Bina come into the room, and almost immediately Bina shouts over to Ham and Lirassa, "Are you two going to drop dead before you figure it out?"
"I don't need help," retorts Lirassa, her voice sounding a bit slurred. "He does!"
Mey'Luskar glances at the pair and moans with disgust.
Mon'Fargret is apparently finished rummaging fruitlessly around in his rucksack and ambles up now donning a gauss rifle for that mid-range goodness he missed out on earlier.
Upon hearing the discourse, he slings his rifle and bends down to examine the fallen guard. He attempts to ascertain her ethnic origin and, if Hergoth or Yangae, renders the appropriate final words.
[His next action will depend on what "pretty much dead" means]
Seeing that Mon'Fargret is taking care of the second guard, Zeton moves over to the first guard shot by Granite. Zeton will carefully examine the individual to see if there are any signs of life.
Betham and Mon'Fargret remove the female guard's helmet (taking care with the funky, linked turret) and find her to be a Sark-type human, meaning she could be Besteeng, Sarkon, or of a number of related peoples. (The round face suggests Sarkon, however.)
As for the male guard, Zeton notes that the rigid parts of his armor stood up remarkably well considering the weapons he was blasted with. The flex-plated part of his torso, however, is burst open in a number of places, and there only seems to be so much charcoal inside. He, too, is large enough to be a Sark-type human of some kind.
Zeton will carefully look at the first guard's equipment to determine if they can use anything to help them rescue Adulie. Anything like comm equipment, a wrister, (or other computer device), and weapons. [Maybe there's some sort of electronic key pass, or something akin to an RFID tag/badge that might allow the group to pass as the guards as they get closer to the Eye of Tann.]
Other than the gauss assault rifle that he dropped, the male guard has a grenade launcher and some kind of pistol plus a rather heavy sword. His utility belt has a high-output, multi-spectral flashlight (to supplement his helmet lamps), a first aid kit, and a pocket welder. He has an ordinary-looking wrister attached to his armor gauntlet. He also has what looks like a small robot in a pocket on his bandoleer.
Zeton will turn his attention to the small robot first, while hailing Nekshi on his wrister about his discovery.
"Now what do we have here...?" Making sure the robot is not activated, or set to self destruct if handled, Zeton will try to determine what the robot is and if it can be used in the future, or if it might be a threat if not dealt with now.
The robot looks like a typical, little mini-servant bot. (Basically, it's the Impasse equivalent of a Swiss army knife.) It's a sphere with a ring around its midsection, about the size of a softball. It has a set of microtractor projectors for propulsion and/or manipulation and also has little doors that probably house tools. What little writing can be seen is a script Zeton doesn't know. There is no obvious user interface on it, but it has a standard universal bus connector, meaning it can work with Confederation standard coding.
"Can someone use any of this equipment? I don't think he'll be needing it anymore." Zeton examines and sets aside the gauss assault rifle (and any ammo that goes with it), the grenade launcher, the pistol, the sword, the utility belt with the flashlight, the first aid kit, and the pocket welder.
"I don't think I can manage the grenade launcher, but if no one else wants the assault rifle, I might take that for added firepower."
Holding up the wrister to Nekshi, Zeton asks, "Do you think we can use this to listen into the folks at the Eye of Tann?
