"You didn't have to do that!" cries the older man in a near panic as the burning ruin of his young companion lands heavily (and messily) on the floor.
"Yes, I did," retorts Lirassa as she struts forward, Ham moving out from behind her.
Nekshi huffs impatiently as the two large, armored humanoids finally allow her egress. Entering the room with Granite Spear close behind, she ignores the goings-on in the center and heads straight for the case holding the large crystal.
"Don't touch it!" calls Bina from back in the hallway.
"Fascinating!" says Nekshi, and she starts fiddling with her wrister. "If I'm not mistaken..."
"Let me see it!" cries Bina.
"As I thought!" says Nekshi. "Temple technology! Or at least a very reasonable facsimile..."
"Let me through!" cries Bina from behind Granite Spear. "Let me see it!"
"I don't like this!" calls Betham from further back.

Mon'Fargret shoots a single pulse into the crystal to see what happens.
(Actually, he shoots a pulse at the display case the crystal is inside...but since it's transparent...)
The display case shatters. The crystal seems to glow briefly, but that's it.
Nekshi gives Mon'Fargret a puzzled look. "Crude laser weapons aren't usually the best way to test ancient artifacts," she observes, "especially valuable, exotic technology kept in a private museum!" She looks around and then approaches the stand, fiddling with her wrister again. "The security here doesn't seem to be very secure!"
"I don't know Nekshi", says Granite as she finally squeezes her way into the room, "Firing weapons at rocks has always been my approach." Granite aims her pistol at the crystal for a few seconds to get her reaction, and then stands down. Then she hurries over to the stairs down (I assume those are stairs), and watches for any response.
(They're stairs up, actually. You're currently on the basement level.)
[Doh! We came up a spiral staircase earlier (5-6 months ago) so I wrongly assumed we had moved above ground.]
(The spiral stairs were coming up from the subterranean tunnel network.)
Nekshi glares at Granite Spear and moves closer to the stand bearing the crystal in its now-shattered case. "The writing doesn't look like Her-Galad," she observes with a frown. Then she starts fiddling with her wrister again.
Lirassa continues moving toward the older Yangae man. "What's up those stairs?" she demands with mock sweetness.
"The front door," he replies anxiously, backing against the display case behind him. "I-it goes on up...to the first floor!"
"Guarded?"
"Well, of course! I mean...well, it SHOULD be...but...I mean..."
"And that fancy rock?" She nods toward the crystal.
"I...I don't know! The Big Guy calls it his 'prize'. Gothie, I think...thought...I don't know! I just know it's really old...and it feels like it's watching me!"
"It's not Her-Galad," adds Nekshi.
